April is Poetry Month (as if it is confined to just one month...). I'm going to try to write a poem a day. Maybe on average. We'll see.

Here's today's:

Broken Cork

The cork broke off
As I tried to remove it
From the half-empty bottle,
Leaving a stub stuck
In the neck.

I pushed it in
With my finger
And it dropped,
A dry little plop,
Onto the wine.

Now there are little bits
Bouncing on the ounces
I poured out of the bottle
Into my favorite glass.

But I hardly notice them,
When I take a sip,
Or the wine either,
For that matter.
